Have your existing panel make and model available and our team can help confirm whether SeptiSense is compatible with your installation. We do the work so you don't have to.
SeptiSense is a cellular and Wi-Fi monitoring board that installs inside your existing septic, grinder pump, or lift station control panel and sends remote alerts when something goes wrong. It detects high water and power loss conditions. It is designed for panels that already have a local alarm but no way to notify you when you are away from the property.
What's Included
✔ SeptiSense PCB Stack (Power Board + Communication Board)
✔ Cellular Antenna
✔ Wi-Fi Antenna
✔ 4 DIN Rail Mounting Clips
✔ FCC ID Tag (for placement inside the control panel)
✔ Instruction Manual
✔ 5-Year Warranty
How SeptiSense Works
SeptiSense mounts to a standard 35mm DIN rail inside your control panel and connects to your existing alarm circuit. It accepts two types of alarm inputs: a dry contact closure or a 120V AC signal. This makes it compatible with most panels that have a float switch input, alarm relay, auxiliary contact, or existing 120V beacon or buzzer output. A float switch can also be wired directly to the dry contact input if your panel does not have an existing alarm output.
Once powered and connected, SeptiSense reports to the Level Sense cloud platform. When a high water or power loss condition is detected, it sends notifications through the Level Sense app and web dashboard. Onboard supercapacitors provide approximately 15 minutes of backup power after AC power is lost, which allows the unit to send a distinct power loss alert before the system goes fully offline.
SeptiSense supports both Wi-Fi and cellular communication and can be configured to operate on cellular as the primary connection, Wi-Fi as the primary connection with cellular as automatic backup, or cellular only without any Wi-Fi required. The device hops between all major LTE carriers to find the strongest available signal, so remote and rural installations stay connected even when internet service is unavailable.
How to Configure SeptiSense
SeptiSense has two setup decisions. Work through each one before ordering and your unit will be ready to connect when it arrives.
Step 1: Input Connection Type
SeptiSense connects to your panel's existing alarm circuit using one of two input methods. Identify which type your panel uses before wiring.
Dry Contact Closure Input
Accepts a contact closure from a mechanical float switch, alarm relay, auxiliary contact, or motor starter. There is no polarity on this input. This is the most common configuration for residential and commercial control panels. A float switch can also be wired directly to this input if your panel has no existing alarm output.
Best for: panels with a float switch wired directly to an alarm circuit, panels with a relay or dry contact alarm output, or direct float switch connections.
120V AC Signal Input
Accepts a live 120V signal from an existing beacon, buzzer, or alarm light output on the panel. This input has polarity. Connect line to Live and neutral to N.
Best for: panels that output a 120V signal when an alarm condition occurs rather than providing a dry contact.
If you are unsure which type your panel uses, call (314) 787-8059 with your panel make and model and we will confirm the correct wiring approach.
Step 2: Connectivity and Subscription
SeptiSense includes both Wi-Fi and cellular radios and can be configured for the connection method that works best for your installation. Many customers run SeptiSense on cellular only with no Wi-Fi required.
Cellular Only
Operates exclusively on the cellular network without requiring Wi-Fi. This is a fully supported primary configuration and is the preferred setup for remote locations, outdoor panels, vacation properties, and any installation where Wi-Fi is unavailable or unreliable. Requires an active $70.99 per year cellular subscription before the unit can come online.
Best for: remote or rural installations, locations without reliable Wi-Fi, and customers who want monitoring that is completely independent of their internet service.
Wi-Fi with Cellular Backup
Connects via your existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network as the primary communication method. If Wi-Fi is lost, the unit automatically switches to cellular to maintain monitoring continuity. The cellular subscription is $70.99 per year and includes all data and alert services. Email, SMS, push notifications, and the Level Sense app dashboard are all included with an active subscription.
Best for: installations where Wi-Fi is available and reliable but backup cellular coverage is wanted for power outages or internet interruptions.
Is This the Right Product?
Choose SeptiSense if:
✔ Your existing panel has a local alarm horn or beacon but no remote notification capability
✔ Your panel has a dry contact alarm output, a 120V alarm signal output, or you want to wire a float switch directly to the unit
✔ Your panel has physical space to mount a DIN rail device and route antenna cables
✔ You have a 120V AC power source available, either inside the panel or nearby
✔ You want cellular only monitoring, or Wi-Fi with automatic cellular backup
✔ You are monitoring a septic, grinder pump, lift station, sewage, or sump pump panel
Do not choose SeptiSense if:
✘ You do not have access to a 120V AC power source for the unit
✘ Your enclosure does not have physical space to mount the DIN rail assembly and is not rated IP67 or better
If your panel does not have 120V available or does not have space for the retrofit board, see the SeptiSense™ NEMA 4X Control Panel. This is a complete standalone monitoring unit supplied in a weatherproof enclosure with a SludgeBoss float switch included.
Built for Contractors: Turn Monitoring into Recurring Revenue
SeptiSense is designed to scale. If you are a septic service contractor, plumber, lift station installer, or property manager overseeing multiple systems, SeptiSense gives you a single enterprise dashboard where every device you manage is visible in one place. You can monitor alarm status, review event history, and receive notifications across all your customer installations without logging into separate accounts. The enterprise dashboard is free for users managing multiple devices.
The subscription model is flexible. You can pay the $70.99 per year subscription per unit and build monitoring into your service offering as a recurring revenue stream, or you can have each customer activate and pay their own subscription while you retain dashboard visibility across all their systems.
Contractors who install and monitor SeptiSense modules for their customers are building predictable recurring revenue while adding a service that keeps them connected between site visits. A high water or power loss alert means you know about a problem before your customer does, which means faster response, fewer emergency calls, and stronger long term customer relationships.

Common Applications
SeptiSense is commonly used to add remote monitoring to residential septic control panels, grinder pump panels without connectivity, lift station alarm panels, sewage pump panels, sump pump control panels, and any existing local alarm only panel where the owner needs to receive notifications when away from the property. It is also used by service contractors and property managers who need centralized visibility across multiple panel installations through a single Level Sense dashboard.

Why Sump Alarm
Most control panels only alert someone close enough to hear the horn. A sewage backup or flooded basin can develop in hours, and if no one is on the property to hear the alarm, a local horn does nothing. SeptiSense gives your existing panel the ability to reach you wherever you are, by phone, text, email, or app, the moment a high water or power loss condition occurs. It works with the panel you already have, installs on a standard DIN rail, and keeps you connected through cellular, Wi-Fi, or both. Our devices are assembled in the USA, backed by a 5-year warranty, and supported by a real team in St. Louis, Missouri.
