How This Panel Controls Your Pumps

This duplex panel manages two lift station pumps using alternating control — pumps take turns running to equalize wear and extend the service life of both motors. Three dedicated float switches manage pump operation and alarm notification. When the wet well rises to the pump run float, the lead pump activates. When the level falls to the pump stop float, the pump shuts off. If the wet well continues to rise above normal operating levels, the high water float triggers the 95dB alarm horn and beacon light.

If the lead pump fails or cannot keep up with inflow, the lag pump automatically activates, providing the redundancy required in most lift station applications.

How to Configure This Panel

This panel has five configuration decisions. Work through each one in order and your panel will be built to your pumps' exact specifications.

Step 1: Notification Method

Every panel includes a local audible horn and visual alarm light. The options below determine whether you also receive remote notifications when the station is unattended.

Local Alarm Only
The panel sounds a 95dB alarm and activates the beacon light when a high water condition occurs. Someone at the station needs to hear it and respond.
Best for attended lift stations with regular on-site staff.

WiFi Monitoring
Sends email notifications when alarm conditions occur. Email alerts are free for the life of the device for up to 5 recipients. Voice and text message notifications are available for $19.99 per year. The panel also sends a combined notification if internet service or power is interrupted.
Best for municipalities and service providers monitoring multiple stations remotely.

WiFi + Cellular Monitoring: Our Most Comprehensive Option
Receive alerts through WiFi or cellular communication, even when internet service is unavailable or unreliable. The panel can be configured to operate exclusively on cellular, exclusively on WiFi, or on WiFi with cellular as automatic backup. Email notifications are free with unlimited recipients. Voice, text, and mobile app notifications are included with a $70.99 per year monitoring subscription.
Built-in supercapacitor backup power provides approximately 15 minutes of power after AC power is interrupted. This allows the panel to send a distinct power-loss notification immediately when your electricity goes out, before any other part of your system has a chance to fail.
Best for remote and unattended lift stations where cellular is the most reliable communication path.

Step 2: Electrical Compatibility

This panel operates on 120V or 240V Single-Phase power, compatible with most residential and light commercial lift station pumps. No selection is required for this step — it is confirmed for your reference.

Step 3: Full Load Amperage (FLA)

The panel's protection components must be matched to your pumps' full load amperage. Both pumps must have the same FLA rating.

6.3–10A — smaller lift station pumps
10.1–14.9A — mid-range lift station pumps
15–25A — larger commercial lift station pumps

You can find the FLA on the pump nameplate, the pump specification sheet, or the existing control panel documentation. If you are unsure, call (314) 787-8059 with your pump make and model and we will look it up for you.

Step 4: Capacitors

Some lift station pumps require external start and run capacitors housed in the control panel. Others have capacitors built into the motor and do not require them in the panel.

No Capacitors — your pumps have internal starting components
With Capacitors — your pumps require external start and run capacitors in the panel (standard: 238MFD start / 50MFD run per pump)

Check your pump documentation or call us if you are unsure. Installing a panel without required capacitors will prevent the pumps from starting.

Step 5: Pump Protection Level

Standard Protection — thermal overload and circuit breaker included as standard. This is the correct choice for most installations.
Add Seal Failure Sensor — adds seal failure detection for both pumps (+$225). Includes thermal overload plus seal failure monitoring. The seal failure sensor detects water intrusion at the mechanical seal and triggers an alert before it reaches the motor windings — stopping a costly motor replacement before it starts.

Is This the Right Panel?

Choose this panel if:

✔ You have a duplex lift station with two pumps that need to alternate
✔ You need lead-lag pump control with automatic failover
✔ You need high water alarm protection
✔ You want optional WiFi or cellular remote monitoring
✔ You are replacing an existing duplex lift station control panel

Do not choose this panel if:

✘ You have only one pump (use a simplex panel instead)
✘ You need three-phase power (this panel is single-phase only)

For single-pump lift station applications, see our Lift Station Control Panels collection. For grinder pump systems, see our Duplex Grinder Pump Control Panels.

Common Applications

This panel is commonly used in residential duplex lift stations, municipal wastewater lift stations, commercial building lift stations, pressure sewer systems requiring pump redundancy, stormwater lift stations, new duplex lift station installations, and direct replacement for failed or aging duplex lift station control panels.

Why Sump Alarm

Traditional lift station control panels only alert someone close enough to hear the horn. Sump Alarm panels give you the ability to receive notifications remotely, so you know about a wet well problem before it becomes an overflow event or an emergency service call. Our panels are assembled in the USA, listed to UL 508A, and backed by a 5-year warranty.
